Campaign Notes
Dahl is a mentor and friend of Ravan. According to Ravan, he himself was purchased by a noble Riran family, the Renmurri where Dahl was their master servant - that’s how the two met. Dahl trained Dahl on how to be a diplomat, and after he was granted clemency by the noble house that owned him, Dahl sent out to gather as many Parshmen as he could in Rira to help them be free.
It turns out that Dahl ended up using those Parshmen in his experiments to trigger Death Rattles and to learn all he could from Moelach. Around this time Ravan also learned that Dahl was never associated with house Renmurri, and his training of Ravan around the Renmurri estates was all a big scam.
It is implied that Dahl lied about his associations with house Renmurri, and for seven years trained Ravan all that he knows while lying about his associations with Renmurri.
At some point during Ravan’s training, Dahl joined up with The Diagram and started spending more time in Kharbranth to assist the Diagram. It’s likely that Ravan’s “clemency” was simply because Dahl wanted to spend more time in Kharbranth.
Eventually Ravan and the party were able to find Dahl in Kharbranth. & Ravan, while in envoyform, spoke with Dahl. Dahl didn’t recognize his old pupil (he’s a bit of a racist) and tried to strap him to a bed where he wanted to drain his blood and see if that would trigger a deathrattle.
Later, Dahl went to confront the party with other members of the Diagram and there he finally recognized Ravan for who he was. He became incensed and screamed at Ravan that he “couldn’t just let him go anymore”. He couldn’t get away with knowing what the diagram was. He told Ravan several times that he would “take him down with him”.
Eventually Dahl ingested a purple gem that contained the essence of Yelig-Nar. He bonded with the spren, and fought the party in the basement of the conclave. As the servant and Yelig-nar he was able to access 9 of the 10 surges and fought the party fiercely. He screamed at Ravan telling him that he would watch as he killed all his friends.
The fight was long and brutal; Dahl, as the servant as Yelig-nar, gave injuries to everyone in the party, and he was able to cut off Ravan’s arm and caused a severe burn to one of Nucko’s eye that rendered him blind in that eye.
Dahl wasn’t strong enough to fully bond with the spren, and after a few minutes of beating the shit out of the party, Dahl collapsed to the ground where his body was consumed by black smoke.
Ravan was able to find a letter that Dahl had intended to send to Ravan. It read:
-Ravan,
I’m so sorry you got brought into this life. I tried so hard to get you away from this. I’m sorry I lied
-Dahl.
Random Facts
- Dahl favored using bombs in combat and he was so incensed with Ravan that he often bombed his fellow Diagram members.
- He had sticky bombs, delayed bombs, and normal bombs. All of which were a specialty type fabrial.
- Individuals who are consumed by Yelig-Nar and are unable to fully bond with him are completely consumed by his power, and don’t materialize in the cognitive realm after their deaths. Their souls are consumed by Yelig-Nar and they also don’t get to go to the world beyond.
