Backstory
Amonrava's Backstory
Amonrava was born to an insignificant Listener tribe on the Shattered Plains in the year 1155. Their first few years of life are not well-remembered, but sometime during 1159, Amonrava’s tribal family were raided and enslaved by bandits working for an Alethi noble family claiming to be relatives of the Kohlins. Prior to manifesting Mediationform, they experienced episodes of heightened cognition and observation, but remaining silent out of fear of retribution.
Prior to the death of Evi Kohlin in 1163 and coinciding with Rira’s disdain for house Kohlin’s theft of their only shardplate, a noble Riran family purchased Amonrava and the remaining Listener slaves from the “Kohlin” relatives. (This was done with the intent to weaken House Kohlin, but was later acknowledged by the house that spite and pride foolishly and humorously clouded their judgment in making the purchase.) Under the much more kind rule of Rira’s House Renmurri, Amonrava felt at ease and confident enough to speak openly to the other serving staff. The Master Servant of House Renmurri, Dahl, was stunned to meet a Parshman who asked so many questions about their faith, diplomacy, and clerical duties. Dahl, feeling bound by the tenets of Vorinism and his belief in the One, took Amonrava on as an understudy, teaching him how to maintain a noble house and bringing him along as a “slave” to listen in and observe his dealings with nobles and merchants. (This is when the name of Ravan was first given, as a means of protecting Amonrava’s identity as a “uniquely intelligent Parshman.”)
After serving alongside Dahl for 7 years, Amonrava was granted clemency by House Renmurri after citing the Iri belief that he was entitled to travel Roshar to prepare his people for the Next World and that he would gather as many as he could in Rira for this purpose.
Amonrava’s mission is greatly influenced by the Riran’s kindness, and he aims to liberate the oppressed and create a safe-haven for the Listeners on the Babatharnam border. Mediationform has only come recently, but the smooth features and clarity of mind granted by the form feel natural to Amonrava; as such, Mediationform has become Amonrava’s preferred form to travel and communicate with. At the start of the campaign, Amonrava is thrown into prison after an unsuccessful appeal for the freedom of some Parshmen slaves, being called a swindler and freak among Parshmen. He does not speak to his relationship with House Renmurri often, in order to protect both himself and his patron house.
Campaign Plot Points
Early Campaign
- Ravan started off the campaign with a BANG - literally - Ravan did one of the more creative things in the campaign by introducing the party to his infamous Molotov cocktail.
- Ravan also negotiated with Nale and helped create a deal where Nucko the Button Thief could get one of Nale’s buttons if they were able to get rid of the Envisagers
Silnansen
- Ravan heard rumors that some of the Parshmen he had rescued earlier had made their way to Silnasen. Unbeknownst to Ravan, his old master Dahl had taken these parshmen and directed them to Silnansen
- As the party arrived, Ravan and the party discovered 20 parshmen corpses that had been desecrated. The party fought off a cremling swarm here, and the warehouse these parshmen were in ended up burning down. Ravan left Silnansen with more questions than were answered.
- It was here in Silnansen that Ravan also found out that Dahl was never associated with the house Renmurri, and that the house had actually never heard of him. Ravan correctly drew the conclusion that Dahl had been lying to him for years.
Vedenar
- Ravan got peed on by a dude here. That’s it - that’s the tweet, that just needed to be immortalized forever in our campaign wiki.
- Ravan, by accident, created the most notorious villain of all time here in Kharbranth - The Muffin Man. The Muffin Man had stolen some muffins from a local shop, and in an attempt to get the local constables away from the party, Ravan directed the constables in the Muffin Man’s direction where he was later arrested and tried for theft.
- Later, the Muffin Man revealed that this theft was to feed his “family” (which was several whitespines). This arrest caused one of his whitespines (who was sick) to pass away.
- The Muffin man vowed revenge on Ravan because of this.
- Ravan learned that Dahl had taken a ship from Vedenar from Kharbranth here.
Kharbranth
- Ravan spent most of his time in Kharbranth hunting down leads for Dahl. He eventually stumbled into Dahl when meeting with Rilano at the conclave in Kharbranth.
- Dahl didn’t recognize Ravan (as he was in a different form) and captured Ravan to run tests on. Dahl was trying to use singers to get unique response from Moelach’s death rattles, and was using Ravan to collect singers for that purpose.
- Dahl began to drain Ravan’s blood, and had some philosophical musings with Ravan. Ravan never told Dahl who he was, instead going by the name of Wayfarer.
- Ravan, in a weakened state, was eventually rescued by Gavlin, where the two of them eventually met up with the rest of the party and got in a big fight with the Muffin Man and Dahl.
- Dahl took upon himself the unmade, Yelig-Nar, and got in a fight targeting specifically Ravan (as he finally recognized his “old friend”). During the fight Dahl ranted about how Ravan had “ruined everything”, “how it wasn’t supposed to be like this”, and “I was just trying to save you and your people”.
- During this fight Yelig-Nar cut Ravan’s arm off at the shoulder. While he eventually was healed by Gavlin, he did have no arm for a short time.
- Dahl was finally consumed by Yelig-Nar, and all Ravan got was a note on Dahl’s person apologizing for the pain he caused, and that he would make it up to him someday.
- After the fight with Dahl, Captain Sebarial tasked the party with stealing from King Taravangian. Ravan and Theren planned to distract the king by addressing him directly. They spotted the Muffin Man in the king’s chambers, and the distraction broke down quickly.
- That distraction went poorly, as Ravan swore the second ideal of the skybreakers and immediately attacked King Taravangian.
- Theren and Ravan ended up escaping, but not after causing some real havoc in the throne room.
Vedenar
- Ravan went with the rest of the party back to Vedenar, where he was trying to help Theren get his high prince seat back.
- He fought in the Veden civil war where he received the nickname “the Bowler” as he used his gravitation surges to literally bowl soldiers into other soldiers.
