Captain Asha Sebarial is a pirate who classified himself as a “type 2 invested entity”. Kael couldn’t sense any spren around him, and Captain Sebarial told Kael that’s because he’s more like a spren than a human, and spren can’t attract spren. The party knows he is from another world, but he hasn’t admitted which planet he is from. They also know he is incredibly ancient, as Sebarial himself has confirmed this, and several of the party’s spren have commented on the age of Sebarial.

Captain Sebarial frequently comments that the party are “his favorite people” and that he loves doing business with them.

The party has a spanreed connected to Sebarial, although they haven’t used it yet. This spanreed is in Gavlin’s pack.

Party’s encounters with Sebarial:

  • Kael once cleaned the decks of Captain Sebarial’s ships in the hopes that would pay for a trip from Vedenar to Dumadari. It worked, but the party ended up stealing a ship.
  • Captain Sebarial caught up with Nucko the Button Thief and Theren in a Kharbranthian square and confronted them about stealing Star’s ship and cargo. He able to trap Theren in a mighty grip and slapped the living shit out of Theren for ages. He then picked up Nucko and said “the best way to kill a radiant is to keep stabbing them until they’re out of light”. He then stabbed Nucko a few times in the stomach.
    • Theren and Nucko were able to get away, but they negotiated some pretty favorable terms for selling the firemoss they obtained from Vedenar. Sebarial promised them 2000 marks, that he would cover Jamma’s wages for the month they were in Kharbranth, and that he would cover the fee to repair the docks.
      • Theren originally got naming rights to naming the repaired docks, but when Sebarial paid off this cost, the naming rights reverted to him. He named it the Suck it Theren Docks.
  • Sebarial met the party in Gavlin’s Lab and “paid” Theren the money he owed them (although the party found out later that they were paid in rocks.). He told them he was looking for them and had to pay them for the sale of the firemoss. He then mentioned some parshmen he saw imprisoned in the basement.
    • During this encounter Sebarial had actually been hired by The Muffin Man to lure them down to the basement where he could fight them.
  • After the party fought the Muffin Man, Dahl, and Yelig-Nar, he found the party in the basement of the conclave and marveled at their success. He told the party that he had been hired by the Muffin Man, and while they were upset he would do this, he tried to calm down the party by telling them that he knew they could take them.
    • Sebarial told the party he knew nothing of the Dahl & Yelig-Nar attack, and told them he was glad they were ok.
    • Sebarial then offered the party a job. He said he had been contracted by the Ghostbloods to steal a copy of the Diagram and that he needed them to sneak in to King Taravangian’s private office.
    • He said he would pay the party 1000 marks and that he would pay 500 upfront, which he did.
    • The party successfully steal the copy of the diagram and gave it back to Sebarial. He paid the rest of the outstanding marks and left with a large smile on his face. He told the party to never hesitate if they needed anything from him ever again.
  • During the Veden civil ware, Gavlin did reach out to Sebarial asking him for information on if the Diagram would have any dealings in Vedenar. Sebarial promised to tell Gavlin what he knew about that, if Gavlin would would owe him a favor in the future.
    • This sparked a whole debacle where, shortly after the death of Theren, Sebarial kidnapped the party to invoke this favor Sebarial’s Favors
  • While aboard The Void (Sebarial’s ship), Sebarial seemingly set up traps in order to create situations where he could press the party into agreeing into owing him favors.
    • Gavlin
      • Gavlin agreed to owe Sebarial a favor after Sebarial gave him information on the Diagram and their dealings in Vedenar
      • This favor requires Gavlin to go to Klna in Thaylenah, where he was instructed to obtain a perfect gemstone at an auction a bunch of lighteyes were hosting.
      • He told Gavlin to get the stone and bring it to him in New Natan.
    • Kael
      • Kael did his best to try and free two captives on the Void, a woman named Blue and a captured Shin man named Taszo Son Clutio.
      • Unfortunately for Kael, Sebarial caught him trying to release his prisoners. In his rage he pinned Kael up against the wall and drained investiture from him as he swore his third ideal. When Kael wouldn’t agree to his terms, Sebarial ran him through with his sword. Kael, with no other options, agreed to two “friendship” favors in exchange for his life and Taszo’s life. Blue had somehow escaped from the prison.
    • Torin
      • Sebarial set out what he called his mother’s gold tooth, properly assuming that Torin’s mink, Flick would steal the tooth. When Flick stole the tooth and gave it back to Torin, Sebarial pretended to be filled with rage and came to the top deck searching for the tooth. Flick tossed the tooth in the sea, and Torin was able to smooth talk his way out of any favors.
    • Nucko
      • Nucko avoided all favor attempts from Sebarial. He got off clean!
    • Ravan
      • Ravan agreed to a favor if Sebarial would forgive the gambling debt of Dblar and allow Dblar to be their guide in Klna.
