Overview
Every found family has one member who turns out to be running a long con, and for Ravan, that member was Dahl — the mentor who “freed him from captivity,” earned a debt of gratitude that ran bone-deep, and then cashed it in by draining Ravan’s Stormlight and having him thrown in a Kharbranth prison cell. Mentorship, Diagram-style: build the trust, then spend it.
Key Moments
- Presumed dead for a stretch of the campaign. Turned up alive and unbothered in a New Natan tavern, apparently just fine with letting everyone grieve on false pretenses.
- Has an actual twin brother, Nico, a servant of House Renmuri — which the party eventually pieced together meant Dahl had been wearing his own brother’s identity for political leverage inside the Diagram. Efficient. Deeply unsettling.
- Personally interrogated Ravan using a tidy little utilitarian thought experiment — “would you sacrifice 100 to save 90%?” — the kind of question a man asks right before he proves he’d sacrifice all of them, starting with you.
