Overview
The Shallow Crypts was Sebarial’s real workshop — a sprawling fabrial-research operation tucked inside a coastal hideout, docked and hidden well away from anywhere a curious Highprince might stumble across it. This is where Gavlin did some of his best work: a fabrial capable of harvesting raw Investiture straight out of highstorms, and a Stormlight storage system that finally didn’t leak. Genuinely brilliant engineering, executed by a kid who had no idea he was building the exact tools his mentor needed to make an attempt on a god’s life. Gavlin also hit his Second Ideal here and stepped onto the Enlightened Truthwatcher path — a nice silver lining, or extremely on-the-nose irony, depending on how charitable you’re feeling about the whole “unwitting arms supplier” arrangement.
The facility is also where the truth finally surfaced: futuresight and a torn letter signed by someone calling themselves “Cephandrius” laid Sebarial’s actual plan bare. Everything downstream of that discovery — up to and including the fight that finally ended him — traces back to what got found in this building.
