Taszo-son-Clutio
Status: Deceased. Died the way he lived: helping people who had no particular claim on his kindness. Origin: Shin, a Stone Shaman and budding Stoneward who never got the chance to swear his first Ideal out loud.
Overview
Taszo was freed from imprisonment aboard Sebarial’s ship and, rather than running for the hills like a reasonable person who’d just escaped captivity, joined the party and started handing out lore for free. He was the one who confirmed the Shin have spent millennia quietly guarding the Honorblades and are currently missing three of them — a detail that matters a great deal more than it sounds like at first, given who else on this wiki turned out to be walking around with divine baggage. He was, by every account at the table, genuinely kind and empathetic in a party that had by that point accumulated more secrets than a Ghostblood convention, and he was visibly, sincerely shocked to learn Radiants had returned — especially that a Parshman could bond a spren. A good man, in other words, surrounded by people who mostly weren’t.
He also, it turns out, taught someone how to fight. Keth — truthless, quiet, and traveling with Teal — showed up on the party’s doorstep an entire arc later looking for “his late master Tazzo,” and spent the whole of Session A working backward from that grief toward a name. He got one. This wiki got a second entry’s worth of material out of a man who’s been dead for a while. Taszo would probably find that hilarious, in the specific way kind people find their own posthumous inconvenience hilarious.
Key Moments
- Revealed the core Honorblade lore: the Shin have guarded them for centuries, three are missing, and the Shin believe the Herald Taln himself has returned — with Taszo’s own suspicion pointing straight at the Shattered Plains, which is, conveniently and horribly, exactly where the party was headed.
- Got his broken arm healed and rejoined the fight rather than sitting the evacuation out.
- Died protecting the party during the meteorite ambush, struck down by Shai’s Division surge — his flesh rapidly dissolving into gray ash despite Ravan pouring the last of the party’s antiseptic over the wound.
- Passed with cryptic final words — “Tizzy… monastery…” — and a plea for the party to reclaim his people’s stolen Honorblade.
- Confirmed, in his last moment, as a budding Stoneward: the radiants at his side watched his spren officially depart his body, an Ideal he never got the chance to speak out loud.
The Student Comes Looking
- Keth arrived in Session A introducing himself around the party as a man “in search of my late master Tazzo,” seeking “answers from his murderer” — the first anyone on this wiki had heard of Taszo having a student at all, let alone one still actively grieving him.
- Learned from Gavlin that the party hadn’t personally witnessed the death — Gavlin was “separated from the party at the time of death,” off dealing with Sebarial elsewhere — but confirmed it happened “at the asteroid,” i.e. the meteorite ambush already on record above.
- Pressed Ravan for the name of the killer and got one plainly: Shai (see the naming note below). Keth’s response was immediate and blunt — “I do not like her either” — before sitting down at a table to start working out how to track her down.
- Spent the rest of Session A chasing that lead through Veth, one of Shai’s subordinates, dueling him nearly to death and interrogating him while he burned — whether that fight actually ended in Veth’s death or his release is genuinely contested in the record. A Note on “Shai” vs. “Shy”
The party has always had this man’s killer on record as Shai. Session A’s transcript, independently and repeatedly, spells the same person’s name as “Shy” — Veth, dying and testifying under duress, names her as “Shy” throughout, and it’s Shy the party describes to Keth as “a lady… not a nice lady” once he finally gets a straight answer out of them. Nothing about the description conflicts: same association with Veth, same role as the one who struck Taszo down, same general vibe of a person everyone agrees they don’t like. This wiki considers Shai and Shy almost certainly the same individual and is treating them as such going forward — but the discrepancy is real, it’s in the record twice over, and this page isn’t going to quietly paper over it just because the tidier answer is also the likelier one.
